The 2026–27 Premier League season begins on 22 August 2026. The 35th season of the competition will conclude on 30 May 2027.

Arsenal enter the campaign as defending champions after winning last season. Clubs are continuing squad planning ahead of the opening weekend.

The transfer window opened on 15 June and closes at 23:00 BST on Tuesday 2 September. The same calendar applies to clubs in Germany, France, Spain and Italy, meaning the first two weeks of the season will be played with the window still open.

MHA Analysis

A season starting with the window still open is no longer an anomaly but a structural condition: the first two rounds are played by squads that are still changing. The consequence is economic as well as sporting — points taken early directly set the price of the deadline-day business in early September. Arsenal entering as defending champions will also test whether the two-pole structure of the last decade has genuinely broken up.
